SEE the art!
MEET the Wombats!
HEAR me ramble on about my artwork & politics!
CHECK OUT my awesome dress!
Because so many of my friends & family weren’t able to make it up to North Dakota for my MFA exhibition, I recorded a video tour so they could all see it. So, this is me talking about the various pieces in my MFA show. It’s a bit goofy, because of course, I am a goofy person & I didn’t have a script or anything. It starts out a little funny because Paul didn’t tell me he’d started recording already.
Recorded by the lovely & talented Paul Hutchinson at my Artist’s Reception, held on July 26, 2013 at the Col. Myers Gallery in the Hughes Fine Arts building at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.
What’s With the Wombats?
While in North Dakota, I developed a deep love of wombats. Watson & Wanda Rossetti are my “pets”, named after the Pre-Raphaelite artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti. It turns out that he was obsessed with wombats to the point that he had kept several as pets in his backyard. After reading about his, I looked them up & discovered that they are indeed adorable little creatures (when they’re young, anyways, after which they get much, much larger. Still adorable, though). Besides which, my apartment didn’t allow me to have a dog. So, wombats.
